anyone had to replace their fuel cap? I lost mine today, and I've been pricing them.....good grief. Was just wondering if anyone had replaced theirs with something other than the factory cap. I'll stuff a rag in it before I'll pay over fifty bucks for a cap......

going out of town tomorrow for a few days, will be searching for a replacement when I get back and I'll let you know what I find. Next one will be on a tether of some sort too....

I have a XG3140H and its the same tractor as a 2017 NH Workmaster 40. You can get that cap from messicks for $25.98. Don't know if it fits yours.

ok thanks. that's something I hadn't thought of, I need to learn what the 'sister' model that NH has, although I would think it would be more which model has the same fuel tank.

Get a cap that fits. The last thing you want is water getting into the tank. That can cost you big money if the water makes it to the IP.

I lost mine 4-5 years ago and after sticker shock went to local auto parts with a tracing and measurements of the filler neck.

I was able to match up a suitable cap and promptly added a tiny 'tether chain' so as to not repeat.

LOL, a tank cap don't care if is gas or fuel as long as it is vented.

Mine was $45 through the MF dealer.. I believe they hold a few pounds of pressure so I went the oem route..

Seeing you have an xg3025, the NH equivalent would be a workmaster 25 I believe.

great tip! while I do park it inside, I have also been caught out in the rain. I'll make a trip to the NH dealer and see what they've got. I would think which ever one in their line that has the same size fuel tank would interchange

My challenge was not as easy to solve as there are no Mitsubishi tractor dealers anywhere, fortunately, as with cars and trucks, there is a certain set of standards that everybody uses.
SAE=Society of Automotive Engineering.

How did you lose the fuel cap?

left it sitting on the fender....

however, I did find a replacement thanks to the super helpful (and patient) young man at O'Reilly auto parts, I did as mentioned above and took a measurement of the neck and wend down there with just that. About 10 minutes and laying a few out for me to pick from, I chose one that already had a tether attached, and it fit just right!

'Course now you'll find the original laying on top of the grass somewhere, right there in the open.

LOL no I don't think so, I left it off when I stopped to fuel up about 15 miles from home after going to do a bush hogging job

Diggin it - that's exactly what I was thinking. Be sure you save the sales receipt and packaging. As soon as you get the new one home - walla, there is the old one.

Not too terribly long ago, I hooked up my simple 4x8 utility trailer to go pick up some lumber (or whatever) in town. I laid the spring/hitch pin on the vehicle's covered bumper, latched the hitch, connected the chains and wiring and off I went. When I got to town about 15-20 miles away, went in the store, made my purchases, came back out loaded the trailer, then reached into the back to get the ratchet straps, guess what I noticed sitting on the bumper cover?

Not a fuel cap but the same idea. Loooong ago, I was working on my Toyota FJ40. Had the SnapOn socket set sitting on the small running board. Drove off - forgetting where the socket set was. I looked but never found even one socket. As I remember it was $140 back in '78. I was so dam upset - I can still remember it, 40 years later.

I actually usually use a padlock instead of a hitch pin. I did this with the key ring with all my lock keys on it and found it when I got to my destination to unload the lawnmower. Couldn't believe it rode that long. Another one is that on my last camper, I had a short piece of pipe to use to raise the WDH. I hooked up and took off on a trip. next town up, I got stopped at a red light, and heard the pipe hit the road when I started up....pulled over, walked back and picked it up... I didn't find it the next time I lost it though....
