I'm almost embarassed to ask this, /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif but why is it that the fuel cap on my X495 seems to tighten itself 10-fold from one refueling to the next? The past two times I have made a point to just barely snug it up, and the next time I refuel I almost break my wrists trying to get it off. Is it possible that the gasket is expanding as it runs? My wife says I have some sort of neurologic condition which prohibits me from installing any kind of cap with minimal pressure--she's a veterinarian, so go figure. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think you are correct. My previous tractor, an X 595 did the same thing. One could barely snug the cap on, and it because very difficult to get off. Interestingly, not all of the diesel X-series' are like that. I have seen some that work fine. I also believe that the seal expands during work. I also believe that some diesel likely sloshes against it, creating a covalent bond.

Could it be possible the cap is not venting properly and after use the vaccuum on the tank allows it to tighten? Just a thought. Good luck.
