Front wheel bolt keeps coming out

do you have a ball ended hammer hanging around or a large ball bearing ? ... remove the bolt , put the ball end (or ball bearing) against the hole with the threads and tap it with another hammer ... this tightens the first couple of threads and acts like a self locking nut does ..

Interesting idea. Thinking about it, I would modify by making a nearly flat ended punch w radiused edges out of an appropriate dowel pin. This would avoid most of the outward component caused by the ball shape.
