I'm wondering if it is possible to have a trailer hitch receiver (similar to this) bolted or welded on the front underside of a Kubota tractor? I've seen pictures of receivers welded on the bottoms of a bucket - but how strong would that be and might it damage the bucket.

The main use would be for mounting a portable winch.

Since your your primary use for this is to mount a winch. I'd be worried about lateral pull load racking the arms on the loader and less worried about damaging the bucket.

I agree with you about being concerned with attaching it to the FEL. But, would it be possible to mount a hitch adapter to the front frame of the tractor itself?

Thanks.

Can I ask the intended use of the winch? For example, will the winch be large enough to pull the tractor? Or will it just be used for pulling smaller objects to the tractor?

I will mostly use it for pulling small objects to the tractor, Jed --- but it would also be useful if it could pull the tractor.

CortezEd, I have this on the front of my B3030. I welded a piece of angle to a scrap piece of 2 inch tubing, drilled 4 holes then used grade 8 bolts to attach it to the tractor. I feel it is quite strong and have used it to move my utility trailer around. If you decide to do something like this make sure the new hitch does not stick to far forward or it may interfere with the loader arms. Good luck! Stanley

Any reason you couldn't mount it to the towbar? The advantage is that it was designed to pull heavy objects, and is low enough on the tractor's center of mass to prevent an accidental turnover. I know it's behind you, but...

One thing to consider is the electrical drain on your battery. Might want to look into getting an alternator installed.

My tractor has a 60-amp alternator Sandy, but I think you are correct about needing to consider the electrical drain. I'll ask my dealer if it's possible to fit an alternator with higher output in.

Looks like a good solution being mounted right to the frame

Yes Jed. I agree with you --- the tow bar would be the best way --- but I can imagine times when being able to also use a trailer hitch receiver mounted on the front would be very handy.

Yep, very handy. I added one to the weight that was on the MF240D when I bought it. Great for moving trailers.

I had a Warn 8K winch on a receiver mount, for my truck.

Used it on the tractor also.

I've used my Warn 9000 on my Hummer and it was quite useful. So what you've done is what I'm hoping to do Dennis. I wasn't sure if I was crazy... Thanks for the pictures. ---Ed

No Ed, not a crazy idea!

This is my tractor now:

I moved the Pin hitch to the top threaded holes and put the receiver hitch on the bottom.

I can use the winch on the front or back now, but haven't needed to.

For the front I have a Speeco Ultra Fork with a receiver hitch added to move bumper pull trailers.

For gooseneck trailers, I bolt on a cut off receiver hitch.

For the horse trailer, I bolt it on the right, so I can see along the side of the trailer, while pushing it into the barn.
