Gentlemen and ladies,
Man is it cold. We had -40 on our backyard thermometer this AM. That is bad on machinery. But out of shear stupidity I went to work.
The only thing I broke was the attaching lip on my quick attach forks for my LA1002 loader. I think this was when I took them off. I had a very heavy load of spruce say 2000lbs on top of the forks(I had just drove them under for storage out of the way). Then I unhitched them and tried to unattach. I felt a snap and heard a bang and that was it.
I looked at the broken piece. It is an ATI Quick attach and a JTW forks. These are supposedly very good as they are what come on Bobcat skidsteer forks. I noticed that the weld was only on one side of a fairly narrow gauge lip. The underside was not even tacked. I fixed it of course. Good Ol Lincoln 225 junky welder. Now she's on there.
So be careful with those quick attach couplings. Comments please and keep em clean!
Also some good advice needed. I noticed that my fronts were slipping around on the dry snow. Not bad but annoying. The Dew Point was -54 last night so it was dry and I was out there working at about -34 when the tires slipped.
I was wondering if anyone wants to tell me what about front tire Ballast(these are 9.5x24) and front tires chains in a MFWD.
I have the Haaki Ice chains on the rears. I would not use so aggressive a chain because of possible harm to the front axles but what about a simple ladder.
I need some help here.
Otherwise Holy **** Batman what a great tractor. My first Kubota is a Monster. Can't wait for baby brother B7500.
