Hi,
I have an MTD push mower (6HP 22" wide). The carb linkage and primer bulb are on the front of the engine. I just moved into a new home, and three sides of my yard border unmaintained areas so I find myself pushing my mower into various kinds of tall grass and brush trying to reclaim some yard.
Well, it finally happened, everything was working fine, then one push later my mower stalled. Found that I had bent the carb link.
To save myself future issues, I'd like to shield the vital parts. I want to be careful to not restrict airflow for cooling... Any ideas about how to do this? I was thinking about a making a sheet metal guard bolted to the deck. Thought about expanded metal, but even a small twig could harm the primer bulb... Any thoughts or examples out there?
