Adding power steering could be possible. I'd wager the parts from a 790 or 3005 would work, if the OP can't find parts from a 970 (or 870). Won't be cheap though...not if he has to buy the parts from Deere.

I'd have to agree with the no power steering thing. I had a loader on a 2wd with no power steering, real tough to steer with a load in the bucket. Still, if it is used just ocasionaly, not 4 + hours a day, should be OK. My 970 does have power steering, helps with a load.

I've got a Yanmar 276D with FEL and no power steering. Would I prefer power steering? Of course. There is a kit available, but for the $$, I just live without it. At a dead stop sometimes I lift the front & turn the wheels. Once underway it's not that big a problem. I'm 66 by the way.
