Front drive not working

I have a Iseki TA545 with 4 in1 front loader, the front wheel drive is not working. When i lifted front wheels off the ground the left wheel spun freely by hand with no noise, the right wheel had some drag and the sound of gears running (not scraping or a rough noise). I dont know where to start with solving this.

Had the tractor 6 months and only used it for loader and backhoe work on hard surfaces but do need the 4wd to get out of the odd sticky hole. Im not sure if it would be under a differant model number in states but tractor has 45hp Izuzu engine 4cyl.

My neighbour last year had the shaft bearing that powers the front axle fail. He removed the shaft and replaced the bearing. I would see if the shaft that powers the front axle is turning by raising the tractor up and checking when it is running. If the shaft is turning then the problem is in the axle. If the shaft does not turn then the problem is in the transmission. Please have some one in the operators seat when you are under a running tractor.
