I had to pull the steering cylinder off my old 3510 today, what a chore !had to remove the 4. 1 1/16 bolts that hold the front axle in and raise the frame to get the cylinder out.My issue is is 6 ball bearings came out of the coupling. How to I go about putting it back together ? I’m thinking Vaseline might hold them while I maneuver the front unit into the shaft ?. Anytips ? Thanks !!

Welcome to the forum.

Either vaseline or just grease will work just fine. Lubricate all the splines on the shaft while you're at it.

Thanks , Fellas ! Great video but mines a 2006 and the cylinder has steel plates welded at a 90degree angle. The long bolt trick would work but would have to be very long.I’m hoping my drive shaft will slide back like you say because trying to deal with the front axle and those bearings would be hard to get together all at once.Hopefully I can install the cylinder and bolt the axle back up tight and the deal with the shaft and bearings last.
