Snowblower Front Blower For Compacts

They make these about 60 miles from my house. They make quite a few different thinks for small tractors including a real nice three point mounted forklift.

Any idea what the complete unit costs?

Seems like a nice way to hook up a front blower. Wonder how many gpm are required to operate? Also curious about price? Those boys out in ND are pretty resourceful.

I like it too

The industry is moving toward more fluid powered implements and less shaft-driven stuff. This one is aimed at tractors with mid pto and QA FEL - but they offer a rear pto pump too. I like that they tap into the tractor's hydraulic reservoir. Notice the nifty filter on the loader arm ! Nice rig ! Looks to be spendy.

"So simple, even your brother in law can do it". Funny stuff.

I don't see any indication of how they tap into the loader hydraulic circuit. Any clues there? Just curious as every other system I have seen like this has a separate tank setup to drive from the PTO. Totally separate from the tractor hydraulics.

I am just thinking. With their own seperate pump. They have set up a new suction port, from the tractors resivor. To the pump, then up to the distribution block on the arm. The filter has a bypass line besides the return line. These two hoses have to go back to the resivor. That's the reason for the return filter also. The new circut will not contaminate the tractors resivor. I wonder how much heat this would put into the tractor system. May have to also add oil cooler. I still like the whole idea.

The narrow impeller for the blower
is an issue with the open auger design as
the open auger essentially defeats the
speed of the impeller as the amount of
snow removed is only as much as the
narrow paddles of the impeller allow
at any revolution.

It seems counter productive really where it
shreds the snow and has a very low
tonnage per hour due to the small transverse
impeller.

Curiosity got the best of me and I gave these folks a call. To provide oil for their pump they said, "some sort of T needs to be put in a line to pull the oil from the hydrostatic sump and a connection made to return the filtered oil to the sump." Apparently you get to figure the details of that out yourself. He said where they live, 0dF and below.. no worries about heating the oil too much, but in warmer climates, upper 20's, it could be an issue. Price without shipping, 60" blower with rear PTO mounted pump- $8350.00, 60" blower with mid-PTO pump, $7750.00. I can hire my neighbor to plow me out for a long time for that kind of money.

"OR buy a front mount 3 point hitch kit from pronovost to use the rear blower up front."

Not a Hyd guy but??? Could'nt one jsut fab a tank and use a pump of the PTO make this work. Or do youjsu use one of the rear Hyd connections for the access and hols it open?

Seem there is a better mosue trap somewhere here. I would love ot be abel to lift the blower to about 6 feet high. I could shave banks back for intersections.

I think that would be easiest rather than tapping into existing system.

I thought about that too, but that means the tractors pump is supplying the flow and pressure. The specs call for 14-16gpm, how many compact tractors have that much flow? He also gave me the impression that it runs higher than the normal 2000-2500psi but he didn't say for sure.

They make PTO pump and tanks, if you HAD to have the height, I would go seperate tank rather than use the tractors supply.
I can add a mid-PTO for my tractor and front mounted 60" snowblower for less than $4K, but I couldn't get the height that this one will give you and for me... I don't have the need for the height.

If a tractor already has a 10+ gallon hydraulic reservoir with built-in cooling capacity, it's attractive to make more use of it. But connecting into it means finding a big enough port. I don't think the atmospheric suction filter pipe on most tractors will deliver enough flow. On the bigger HST's the suction tube to the charge pump might be bigger - but what about its filter? Anyway, it's not something the average customer wants to tear into. The hydraulic tie-in will need model-by-model installation support.

Maybe there's more to know here. They've put serious thought and development into the product line so far. I'd like to learn more about the two concentric auger/impeller drives. The side-delivery walkway model looks interesting too.

Happy New Year TBN-ers! Dick B

Thanks for looking into it Jim. ...But SHEESH! That's pricey!! As I understand it, you can get an Erskine front mount blower with a PTO mounted pump and reservoir for no more than that, and that's a lot more equipment included and no risk of messing up your tractor's hydraulics, nor having to hobcobble some "tap" into the system. I think they had a good idea but perhaps missed on the execution.

I like it but the cost is pretty steep for my wallet even at half price.
