Ballast Front ballast

I'm thinking of adding either front wheel weights or the suitcase style weights for front end ballast. It seems to me the wheel weights would be better since they would be lower, but I also want to be able to easily remove the weights. Can the wheel weights be easily removed. Also, I have not seen any postings related to a New Holland model 1925. I think this tractor is the predecessor of the TC33. I own the model 1925 and would be interested in seeing more postings relating to that model.

I'd go with the suitcase weights. They are farther out in front than wheel weights and if you have a flat tire, you don't have to "fight" with them.

I don't know if you have a loader on your unit or not, however, I have found that partly filling mine (1/4 - 1/3 still leaves the front end light enough to work well) gets me pleanty of bite.

I have been using the loader as ballast, and its plenty heavy to keep the front tires down without filling it at all. However, I think it's too heavy. Just yesterday I was mowing down a moderate grade and tried to turn to go back up the grade ( I cannot go all the way to the bottom to turn around because of a sharp dropoff) and nearly turned my tractor over. The right front tire went down into a small hole and the left rear tire was about 6 inches off the ground. I think the loader was helping to pull the tractor over. I may try mowing this area without the loader but am concerned that the front end will be too light going up the hills. Also, one thing I failed to mention is that I do not have fluided rear tires since I do not want the weight on my lawn.

Just my suggestion...
Try backing down your grade. If that doesn't work, park your tractor and use a weedeater with a brushcutting attachment. Turning over your tractor and possibly ruining it and yourself is too high a price to pay for ANY mowing job. Believe me, I make this kind of decision all the time because I have lots of hills and gullies. Be careful out there..../w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif
