Was out at the farm doing more mowing, clearing, and cleaning up and came across this, which I believe to be an old hay rake. Pulled it from the brush/weeds and relocated it. Going to have to ask dad about it and see what he remembers about it.

Interesting. All I've ever found hiding in the bushes - larger rocks.

Interesting. Doesn't look like it's been there long.
Those are interesting, because I think the tongue is horizontally fixed to its connection point. The rake only pivots at the drawbar pin connection and at the back tires.
I don't know what the advantage or thinking behind this is. Anyone?
It would be interesting to see how this style tracks behind a tractor, I haven't seen one used since I was too young to pay attention.

The picture of it is where it was moved to. Original location, it was all overgrown, trees growing through it, wasn't sure if it was going to be able to be pulled out without getting the chainsaw out, but gentle pulling and it came.

I found one too, it was over grown with trees. It had steel wheels. I never retrieved it. We have owned the property 29 years. I have not looked for it in at least ten years.

Still looks in good shape, old dump rakes worth more.

There rake bar rotation is ground driven from the front wheels. To keep rake bar rotating while turning a corner front wheels are in fixed position and rear wheels caster. This is a late model has rubber tires. Dad's John Deere model was steel wheels.

I have a neighbor who still uses a rake like that. It works well for them.
