Branson (kukje) 4020, 40hp turbo
Last day of Indiana muzzle loader season. Guessing range at around 120 - 130 yrds, with knight disc rifle, 100 grains triple 7, dead center sabot.

Another good job for the Branson....

I have to agree with you Rick... since I have had the Branson , I have been catching more fish and bringing in more deer. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif An outdoorsman's buddy for sure. Saw the buck on your website... sorta dwarfs the one I got. He will be a good eater though.

Friday I missed a 30 yrd shot. After scratching my head and a few other things, I noticed a nice bullet hole in a white pine limb that was about 15 ft away. That's what a scope will do to you in the brush. Anyhow, here's another view.

Man, those Bransons are quick, how fast were you going when you hit that deer? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Well... Ed, I think my top end is only 14 mph. I know this , because when my van takes it's last breath, I may have to drive my branson to get to work. Work is 18 miles away, so I was figuring more than an hour's drive. Anyhow, I know I wasn't going over 14mph.

As for the deer, it was not so much the top end speed, but the technique, and accessory equipment. My EZ landscaper toothbar has just the right spacing on the teeth wheras the neck will fit snuggly between, without dropping the deer. Now , I have given a lot of thought to the spacing on the toothbar...as I never want to be in front of the bucket when my wife has her hands on the controls. Anyhow, as you can see from the picture, the deer did an evasive manuever at the last minute and did a flip. Never mind though...the toothbar came thru and snagged him by the legs anyway. That's my story and I am sticking to it. If you look at my past history of posts, you will see I have had similar luck with catching bluegills with the branson. It sure is one fine machine.

Rick, don't tempt me... I could envision a 6530 in my driveway. That way, I wouldn't have to hold off on shooting the bigger deer. With that Cummins B3.3.... I think it would handle anything we have around here, and of course open up my options a lot more. I might have to go moose hunting if I had the 6530. I do have a neighbor with some domestic buffalo er bison ?

George, thanks for sharing that picture. Looks like you had a good season. Nothing like having the FEL and 4WD. I am not the young man I used to be... and dragging a deer can get your heart rate up in a hurry.
