i never saw a alternator with 3 posts

its a diesel, without lights it will run alot

It's a TEFC alternator, right?

Inna nutshell, single wire alternators have internal voltage regulator (VR). 3 posts on alternators that have external VR. B+ is the output, B- is the ground, F is the field which goes to the VR.

Thx for info... alternator wires are 2 black and 1 white

Weird colors

another snow storm tomorrow, il run it without lights and bypass wire after

B+, B- (or ground icon), and F should be stamped on the alternator housing next the the connecting posts. Might have to get out the air compressor and/or WD40 to find post markings.
