I have the Yanmar 5500 and all I have to
do to start it is push a lever and turn the
key and its running. You can also put
start it but prefer the key start.

Update regarding the genny, we're running on backup battery system in the summer charging from grid. After inspecting the genset, I found that the muffler case is leaking from the folded edges, they aren't welded.

Flexible exhaust looks alright, the dirty insulation is caused by the air sucked behind the alternator where the leaking 2 mufflers exist.
The casing around it cracked for all sides (engine side) from vibration, and the 2 wheels on one side are bent outwards.

I deshelled the genset, and blocked 2 air outlets from the flywheel bell cover, maintenance is significantly easier.
Regarding noise, an additional mid-high frequency noise is noticeable from the flywheel fan (whine) , the engine is surprisingly less loud compared to the old 178f, more hum less clanking metal.
Replaced the muffler with AIO box.
I've been using a high temperature exhaust fan for ~2 years, its lukewarm to touch on full load as its sucking more cold air than the exhaust (~150W).
I've found that this is the only reliable solution for high hour operation with these jack hammers compared to flexibles (s-shape dry).
The wheels are also sunk and engraved in the concrete floor, the engine rubber mounts are still ok. The battery mounting platform is welded to the chassis, 2 of the 4 tabs broke, probably from vibration too.

Hello. New to the forum. I am a huge genuine Yanmar air cooled fan. I currently have a L70 running a firewood splitter, L70 running a 4000 psi pressure washer, L70 running a 2” water pump, L70 on a genuine Yanmar 3800 watt generator, L100 on a Champion air compressor, spare older L48, spare older L90 and several spare L70s. I also have two Robin 3000 watt air cooled diesel generators.
My big issue has been the rubber grommets for the recoil/air cool shroud. Does anyone have a source for these? They have failed on every one of my Yanmar engines. Thanks for any help! I am located in northeast Georgia,USA.

Welcome!
That's quite the collection.
I bought a stack from McMaster-Carr. McMaster-Carr (1/2" hole 5/16" inner hole)
Those are SBR; not rated for outdoor use. EPDM is better, but I could not find it in the right size.
These are EPDM, but note the thinner panel thickness;

Good luck!

All the best, Peter

Thank you for the information. So I assume they are not available from Yanmar?

Quite some time ago I believe I posted the shop manual for the Niehoff N1603 military generator.
Does anyone know where it’s posted or a copy for a fellow TBN’r.
Thanks
