Forks for fel

I am going to build a set of forks for my yanmar sx3100, I got a pair of for forks from my local fork lift dealer so a bigger thanks to Them. Question I have is the upper plate the the forks rest on, do you think I really need the notches in them for the forks to locate side to side or can I just skip that. I will only use s few times a year and can't really see them sliding around much. Cheaper if I can just use a piece of flat stock instead of getting notches waterjet or milled in.

They WILL slide around...been there and done that many moons ago before I upgraded to my Artillian's. Skip the water jet, just use a grinder and put a notch every 3" or so, precision is not needed.

Plus, once you have decent forks, you'll use them more than you think-I guarantee it! Watch your weight too, it's real easy to overbuild and loose lift capacity.

It allows the the fork tip to rollback higher preventing stuff from falling off going downhill.

I don't have notches in mine and never had a problem.

I just bought some rails to build another set for my SS which have notches but if they didn't I wouldn't bother cutting them in.

this is what I was going to do, nice and simple build as i had already made up the attachment parts when I built my snowplow
