Does anyone know any good websites or reading material on making forest roads ? I have some old logging roads in need of repair but don't know how to make these roads useable again. I don't have much seat time doing anything except for bush hogging for 10 years. I traded in my 9N and got a new TC 30 this year. What attachments would I need ?

That is a good site, and thanks for posting it.

Water management is probably the most important, and hardest to do well. Tearing them up when pulling out logs in the early spring with some frost in the ground yet is a major problem, and I try to avoid that time. Getting the woods open enough to grow a ground cover is also a problem for me.

Attachments such as rear blade or boxblade are workable, but its not easy work what with tree roots, slopes, rocks, and the need to make water ditches.

The Forest Service Guide is an excellent reference. I recall about 50 years ago, a grizzled old Engineer telling me the 3 secrets to good Road Building are: DRAINAGE, DRAINAGE, and DRAINAGE. He hit the nail on the head.

I'd put a hundred dollar bill that all you need is a 6 foot box blade with scarifiers, my friend! You would not believe the roads I have made! the BB is incredible. Get a heavy duty one.
