I have a buddy that has reciently bought a Fordson Super Major tractor It's somewhere in the 1964 65 years. According to the info on the net, it has a 6 speed transmission but the transmission shift pattern seems to be only a 3 speed. How are the other 3 gears suposed to work. Any information will be appreciated as there is limited info on the internet.

Just a guess, but is there another lever to shift between high and low range?

The low and high range is what we thought also but there doesn't seem to be an obvious shift lever anywhere. We are not very familiar with this tractor

Internet search says it was sold in USA as a ford 5000. Perhaps that will help a forum user provide you info.

I had a Fordson-Dexta until recently. It had a second shift lever for 'High/Low' range. You might take the shift lever cover plate off (4 bolts) and see if there isn't another shift dog there sans the extra shift lever. There well might have been a reason that the PO took that lever completely out and covered it up.
