Ford tractor 8 speed manual transmission

My father in law has an old Ford tractor with a 8 forward speed manual transmission. It has a single shifter and the high low range is selected by pressing or pulling the shifter up and down. Does anyone know what model this tractor is? He says it is a 500 but I can't find any info on a tractor of that model.

Haven't heard of that style transmission. I've seen the type with a four speed gear box and then a separate high/low range shift lever.

It is most likely a dual power where there is a direct and under drive for each gear. I think it would also have a high and lo range though? Th e 5000 ford I ran didn't have the fual power but the 9600 did.

Some models of LONG have a similar select shift. I know the one a few places over works that way, I once pulled the cover to fix the shifter when the gal got it jamed up.
