ford one arm loader

I thought they were single action cyl, because there are only two hoses from the loader.

other hos(s) may just be obscured. SA on a bucket would make for a difficult setup between having to have a trip mechanism AND a loader control.. etc.

here's a pic of the dual valve on my 660.. one side is setup as sa ( small knob adjustment ).. and only has one line on that side.. this si the lift side.. the other side is 2 hose and is the da for the bucket.

here's a pic of my da bucket cyl.. real close looking cyl as to the OP's..

J.J. what happened to the beard? Soundguy, thanks I tried to explain it best I could, I just know how the one on my old 8N is hooked up, I wasn't familiar with what is going on inside the case.

respectfully....if you thought / think that you are going into relief to get the loader to lift.. then you -don't- really know how the one on your old 8n is hooked up.

it's a simple physics deal... fluid follows the path of least resistance.. pump is pumping, intake valve is open, exhaust valve is closed.. piston can't move ont he 3pt.. but the piston onthe loader can.. and does.. till it maxes.. thent he last thing left to go is the relief.

that blue valve in the second pic looks like a selectrol valve.. can't see it well enough though..

Yes the other valve is a ford (fomoco)selectrol valve.

So I can add a single valve to what I have to operate the lift arm? If this is true where would I make the connection? Do they sell an SA valve or should I buy a DA valve and use the one I have for the SA?
This would have been so much easier if the PO just sold me the valve off his tractor. I offer him money plus my replacement valve, and he wouldn't go for it.

Thanks, Kirk

since you have a loader needing dual valves one sa and one da, and you have a selectrol valve and a single da valve available.. you got 2 options.

use the selectrol diverter valve to run a hyd line out to a dual valve, and then plumb the return of that dual valve back to the sump with a fitting into the dipstick plate... lift the 3pt handle to start the oil flowing to your open center loader valve. this valve won't see 3pt lift loads as it will be isolated by the diverter, so a cheap-o 120$ log splitter valve that is oc and has one da and one sa configurable port will work.. just pull the knob on the selectrol to cut hyds from the 3pt and send them to the laoder.. and vs-vs.

or.. use your da single valve as a feed for a dual valve setup that is pb capable, as it could see 3pt loads.

lastly.. you could get a sandwich palte that goes under that single valve you have.. use that valve for a remote and then plumb in a power beyond valve off the ports on the sandwich plate.. thsoe plates go for about 100$.. plus whatever the laoder valve is.. probably 120-150$

lastly.. you could just keep looking for a dual ford valve to fit the top cover... used ones int he 300-500$ range.. new in the 700-800$ range.

Thanks,
Good to know. Sounds like you covered all my options. Since I have other loaders and I don't need it right now I would like to try to get the right double lever valve for it. I was out bid on one on ebay and just missed the one on the N board. So they are around and do come up from time to time. There's a swap meet coming up in Oct. Maybe I'll be able to find one there. I'll let it sit over the winter and be looking to do something by the spring. If I don't find it by then I'll go with one of the other options.
I 've got to cut and split wood now. Winter will be here before you know it and my wood stove will want to eat.

Thanks again, Kirk

the valves come up often. I've bought a couple ford valves just inthe last couple months myself.
