Looking to change the one lever valve to a two lever to oparate the hydraulic dump bucket. I would like to use what I have and add to it. Any ideas are welcome.

Those cylinders appear to be single action cylinders.

Yep, old ford loaders used single action cylinders, My okd Dearborn loader just jses the weight of the loader to return it to the down position..

I have never seen this before, but just looking at it, I am going to take a guess on how it works. That valve is a single action valve with one pressure in port, and a release port, and a hose going to each cylinder. When the lever is activated, fluid goes out to both cylinders, and I believe the smaller cylinder activates first, then the large cyl. In the dump mode, the lever is shifted to release the fluid in both cylinders, and the smaller cylinder dumps first, dumping the bucket, and then the larger one. Now, someone really tell me how this thing works.

I don't know for sure how this system works, it may have 2 valves. The Dearborn bucket has a mechanical trip. The single action cylinders expand when the valve is activated and release when the valve is closed. In the case of the old 8N, this action takes place by putting a line into the system after the 3 pt. relief pop valve and chaining down the 3 pt. hitch lift arms. When you activate the system, the relief valve pops and the pressure goes to the loader cylinders.

Kenny.. i got about 6 of those 1-arm loaders now :)

here's the skinny.

the big lift cyl is SA

the small dump cyl is DA. that one looks like a red lion or other 'tsc' sourced cyl.. might be something else.. etc.

the common Ford and tisco style top cover valves come in 2 flavors.. single valve ( dual acting ), and dual valve (dual acting). the single ones usually have an adjustment to make them function as SA. the dual valves usually have an adjustment to make ONE of the ports operate SA... I have seen single acting only valves... but IMHO.. they are less common...

on the dual valves, setup one port as SA and then use the SA port for the lift cyl.. and the da port for the dump cyl.

if you have a single DA valve now.. you either need to swap it for the dual valve.. or run an aux dual valve off that single valve, and bunji it open unless it is a detent style valve.

NEGATIVE on that.

when you chain the lift arms down, the 3pt piston can't move.. fluid is then forced out the TEST PORT on the right front of the pump base plate and run out to a SA cyl.. when/if cyl maxes out, then the relief in the belly pump opens... remember.. the relief ont he pump vents directly to sump.. it's a spark plug shaped thing screwed right into the aft of the pump...

dropping the 3pt contrl allows the cyl to exhaust.

that blue valve in the second pic looks like a selectrol valve.. can't see it well enough though..

I thought they were single action cyl, because there are only two hoses from the loader.
