i've found that very hit or miss. while I've had good luck getting oem and new aftermarket parts warrantied.. have had dismal time getting independent mech's doing the labor for free... kinda don't blame them.. of course.. they should be able to get their money from the part seller, and the seller from the jobber, if they are selling bad parts ;)

Bottom line, most warranties cover parts, not labor.

I'd guess that if you read the fine print on most parts, you will find what you can expect per replacement warranty and warranty labor, which if I had to bet, would be one year warranty replacement, no labor.

Sorry, have to add a funny story (you had to be there)...

Went to a job site out of state to deal with a homeowner with a bad reversing valve in his heat pump. Long story short, manufacturer had a crap load of problems with cheap Chinese reversing valves. Homeowner was a nice guy, understandably upset that the reversing valve had gone bad, but luckily he had a 10 year labor warranty on his equipment. I explain to the homeowner that the manufacturer did have an issue with cheap Chinese parts, but that they switched manufacturers and the problem had seem to be rectified. Well, I ask the contractor if he had the new reversing valve so we could put it on, I was told yes, so we get the new valve (in the box), open the box, and what do you know, yes, it has an "American" manufacturer name on it, but marked in bold "MADE IN CHINA". I looked at the homeowner and told him "well, I hope this Chinese crap is made better than that other Chinese crap". We all laughed about it, but after making some phone calls, turns out you can't find an American made reversing valve actually MADE in the United States. Getting on a little soap box, yeah, things may still be made in the US, but we import the cheapest parts we can find from China.

sigarms,

To add to your funny...

I recently bought shaving razors... unfortunately cheap one - chinese.

My response based on the quality: Note To China, when we mean recycle metal, we don't mean - take old used blades and install them in new razor handles to be sold as new products.

These triple blade things feel like a 3 week old used decent razor from the get-go. Lesson learned... My wife asked if I was celebrating halloween early!!! :)!
