My first Tractor experience and just about my best early childhood experience is helping with the hay...

I was just short of my 5th birthday and my Uncle put me behind the wheel of the tractor at about 3 miles per hour while they loaded... go down one row, make a wide u-turn and go up the next...

This was not a one time deal... it was during the summer I spent on my Grandparents farm... magical for a kid interested in such things... they didn't bail... had a blower that transferred the hay to the hay loft above the stable.

I tried to buy that tractor but my cousin now has it... have not been able to find another in these parts...

Society today would call that "Child Endangerment", never hurt us a bit.

Fortunate to have a few pictures to memorialize...

I have one single picture with me at age 4 with the tractor pulling in the hay wagon and grateful to have it.

Yep. My Mom took those pictures with one of those old Kodak "box" cameras that you look down into the top of it. She did a great job of preserving all the hundreds of pics she took. I used my digital camera and took pictures of all of them and put them on CDs and gave to all the family members. Good stuff.
