I have a Ford 5000, that my father-in-law bought. I am now looking to sell it and buy a newer tractor a little larger. I want to know what year model it is. I have found numbers all over and I'm not sure which ones will tell me so I have listed them all below.

On a badge under the cowling:
TRACTOR # - C421629
UNIT# - 4D02B
ENGINE# - 3J25B
TRANSMISSION# 4A29B

It also has the rear axle#, hydraulic pump #, and hydraulic lift # but I doubt those will make a difference in the sell.

There are several numbers on the side of the block below the injector pump. I took some pictures instead of writing them down so I might have markings that I can't read.

If these don't make sense let me know. I have attached some pics also, just in case. I live in Alabama and I think in my area its worth about $5000.

That 5200 shows a date code of April 2 1974 The sn range C421629 puts it in the mid 74 range as shown here with these year starting #'s/ C denotes a US unit.

e2014 late 5000 rowcrop chassis ( 5200 ) diesel, ind 540 pto. I can't make out the transmission letter code.. but could be dual power..

Oil cooler lines make me think it has DP. probably a good thing it's not next door.............................

I'm thinking DP too, cant see the right side real well.. but it's my first guess.

A second look shows the DP operating rod entering the clutch housing just to the right of the step support in the next to last pic. Road trip to AL, Sounder? maybe you could drop it off in Lincoln County NC at my sister's house.!!!!

Edit: Also the DP decal on the grille shell!!!! What a bunch of detectives we are!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the help on the year model. It is a dual power trans. Now for the bad news. The whole time we have owned it, the lift has been terrible. Basically it's either all the way up or all the way down, you do have some input toward the bottom. A few weeks ago I was disking a small field (8' pull type disk) and it started acting really weak picking the disk up. I stopped to check it out, I did have a hydraulic fitting leaking oil, but not a ton. I put a new O ring in, filled up the reservoir and nothing changed. Now the lift arms won't pick up unless the RPM's are up. I assume its the hydraulic pump, I changed the hydraulic filter in case but I service that regularly so I didn't have my hopes up. Is there anything else it could be? Also I'm not sure if I'm going to get the pump rebuilt ($1000) and then sell it, or sell it as is. I'm not going to hide the fact that the hydraulics are weak, (not trying to take advantage of anyone) but I doubt I will be able to sell it for $1000 more if I get the pump rebuilt.

not bad i figure. we both pegged it for DP without even seeing the decal. ;)
