Ford 4000 Throttle flies wide open

I have a 60's Ford 4000 and whenever slightly more power is needed, the hand throttle flies wide open. I'm forced to drive around with one hand on the wheel and one on the throttle which is annoying.

I assume there is an adjustment somewhere. I'd appreciate any info or diagrams you could point me to.

would be great to know if this is a 3 cyl or a 4 cyl. in any case, yes.. there is a tension disc.


should be kinda obvious.. but you follow the throttle rod and on the 3 cyl, just under the cowl is a nension nut you can get to with a wrench without removing that cowl.

on the 4 cyl.. same deal.. follow the rod .. you will then see a bellcrank on the top of the bellhousing with a friction disc and castle nut and toothed spring washer. should also see a gov scomp spring.
