Ford 3930

I just replaced the starter solenoid on my 3930. It was making a long ccccllliiickkk (Click) before engaging the starter. All wiring put back the same, now the tractor tries to start with the kill switch out and the key off, the the starter was on a continuous whirrr until I got the battery terminal disengaged....HELP !

The mechanical connection between the new solenoid and the starter drive isn't correct. Linkage is jamming the solenoid contacts together while preventing the drive from engaging the ring gear.

I took it off again and it appears the bendix is locking. I checked to see if the "arm" in the starter was free when the solenoid kicks. Being really confused I'm taking it to a shop to get then to check it. Thanks for your help
