How do I remove a starter on a Ford 3910 3 cylinder diesel tractor? It has hydraulics in the way for clear access to starter. I am trying to change the solenoid (the old one crumbled) and can't get center plunger of old one out. I figured I would have to take the starter out but can't get to inside bolts. I am lost.

I've done this. There's no trick other than lots and lots of cussing and time. I can't remember exactly what I used to get onto the inside bolt, but I do remember I could only turn it about a millimeter at a time. Took forever. Also, I did disassemble/remove all the hydraulic bits that were in the way.

Sorry to not have better news. Maybe someone else will chime in with a trick.

Good luck!

9/16" 3/8 drive 6 point flex socket. 6" extension. Ratchet. Remove the fuel filter. Use tools to remove the upper rear starter bolt WHILE THE OTHER 2 BOLTS ARE STILL TIGHT.
