I installed a new starter solenoid on my 3910 and now all it does is click. I checked the battery and it is hot. I rewired it the same as the old solenoid. The new solenoid and the old are the same. hot from battery to top post and wire from key to the male connector on top. Ground wire to mounting bolt on side of starter. It is a 3 cylinder diesel. Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

Usually when a clicking noise is heard you have enough voltage to try and operate solenoid but not amperage for it to work. check all connections verify battery is good perhaps a jumper battery.

Or the solenoid is not connected properly to the starter drive. Or it is connected correctly, but is the wrong solenoid for that particular starter. There are so many variations on the 5" Lucas starter, both original and knockoff, that we don't attempt to sell replacement solenoids. We sell complete starters. Some guys don't like it, some do, and some learn that is isn't a bad idea most of the time.
