Hi all and thank you for stopping in.

I'm removing the fuel pump and replacing with a new one but it seems to be stuck to whatever it goes into .. which is where I put oil into the tract or and I can see when I look down into the oil filling hole (sorry I don't know the proper terms for this stuff) . .. but anyways I can see a gear in there is moving around when I move the fuel pump around .. and obviously that is what the fuel pump is stuck on ...

Another way to describe it is the fuel pump goes into a hole but when I try to take it out there is a gear stuck on it that is bigger than the hole the pump went into .. so how do I get free from that gear? Or is that the problem?

so can you guys tell me where I should go from here? And please don't tell me to hire a mechanic, tried that and if it had worked out well .. I wouldn't be here now.

I have another ford tractor that I steal parts off of .. and I tried taking the fuel pump off of it and it is acting the very same way, like its stuck with that gear on it. So I suspect then that I haven't gone far enough to get the fuel pump free .... but I can't figure out what it is that I need to do to solve my problem. - or they're both screwed up in the same fashion.

Thanks again for your input.

Okay I figured out I needed to take off the cover of the area where I put in the oil and then there are 3 bolts still holding the fuel pump in place.

and I see the gear is suppose to be loose to an extent (or that was my conclusion) so now I am just waiting on the fuel pump to get here. :)

The trick to this is.. ask BEFORE starting a project like this.. and its called an INJECTION PUMP..
Do you have the SIMMS PUMP or a CAV pump?? On the Simms, the injector lines come off the pump, in a straight line.. The CAV are in a circle.
Why did you get ANOTHER pump?? Unless yours is seized, it could have been rebuilt..

He has a CAV pump. "Here" it can be less expensive to buy and install a repop CAV pump than have a pump shop "rebuild" an OEM CAV rotary.
