ford 3600 diesel

I grew up on a mid 70's model. It was a great tractor, I don't remember any issues with it at all. Kinda wish we still had it around! I remember when they sold it it brought more than what they paid for it brand new!

They were very reliable in general. Most issues tended to be minor and common to other models as well (shared parts).

I think that the x600 series tractors were some of the best ever built. I have a 2600 that is 30 years old. Other than routine maintenace, the only repairs have been a PTO seal and a rear wheel seal. That's it, and the tractor has about 1800 hours on it now.

i have a 4600 and love it... good hyds upgrade over the 000 series. filter WAY easier to get to..

looked at tractor found it to be a 3000 series also there are some minor leaks on hydrolic hoses and one on the shifter lever that ingages the pto also the back tires need replaced all in all needs a lot of tlc. There asking price is 6800 is this resonable. How can u find out what it is worth?

I think it is a little high. I bought this Ford 3055 for $3500, with a wore out 6 foot JD rotary cutter 8 years ago. It is essentially the front end of the 3000 with the rear end of a 4000. But it put out 54hp.
Easy to work on and parts are no problem. Only regret selling it when I bought my Mahindra 620 4WD with loader and backhoe. I would love to have it back for mowing and BB work.

6800$ for a 3000? you can buy 2 of them for that here.

most I'd pay for a GOOD 3000 is about 4500$ and that would be a minty one with good tires and extra's.

right now.. here in central florida anyway...most older fords.. say 85 or earlier models, under 50hp are going in the 2500-3500$ range..

I guess I need to make a trip to la with a trailer load of 3000$ 3000's and sell them for 100%++ profit then...

market here is giving tractors away..

I know where a 4000 with orchard fenders is for 2500 $.. ps and all.. fair tires.. no problems.. straight metal,, just a lil rust.. no rust thru's 2500$... bee for sale for months.. no takers...

Wow, what Ford models in that size had powersteering? I was going to buy a power steering kit for mine, before I decided to sell and get a big, new tractor.

I sold it for more than I paid for it also.

ford had powersteering available as an option, as far back as 1955 for the 600 series. less common.. but it was available.

Wow, 6800 is way overpriced, IMO for that tractor with even only minor issues. I bought a completely restored 3600 Diesel for $4500 a year ago. Unless it's got a ton of attachments, I'd keep looking. (btw, it's got p/s which is a nice feature).

I just finished building a sun canopy for it out of scrounged material. I'll post pix in a day or so. It's done, just need to get out to my property and install. Thanks to Soundguy for pix of his. I patterned my brackets off of his.

I miss using the old 3600! I've been on YouTube listening to them and that low RPM grunt takes me back! Does anyone remember what the 3600 replacement model was? Seems like it was 3610 or 3620. Reason I ask is I'll probably inherit it one day. They sold the 3600 but still have the newer 36xx. I know it was newer than the 3600, but almost exactly the same except it had a foot throttle too. It must have been from the early 80's, and he put a loader on it around '95 or so.
