Ford 3000 year ID

Hi,

I just bought a Ford 3000 but don't know the year. The model number is scratched off the name plate under the hood and I can't get behind the starter due to a toolbox being there.

I can't help with the year, but I just wanted to say that's a good looking tractor! You found one that's been barn kept and babied it looks like!

Seller just threw a fresh coat of paint on it.
It is clean and runs good
But not the perfect barn find that it appears to be

I need to find a tractor cover because Zeta is going to hit it hard until I build a shed for it

You still have a nice tractor. My father had a 4500 gasser with loader... ever since he died 3 years ago all that my brother wanted to do was sell it, whereas I said over my dead body. We dragged it out of the barn this summer and it sold literally as soon as I got it started... you can see who won that battle.

No, we gave it away, for a mere $3000.

All the unit codes start with 8 so the tractor build date is in 1968.

Apparently the select o speeds are great until they aren't... those 3 cylinders (assuming, can't tell for sure from the small pic) are a work horse and pretty easy to work on, parts are readily available and fairly cheap. I don't think year makes a huge difference, there's a few different size fuel injectors and a few different injector pumps and if power steering there's 3 or 4 ways it was done...

Never had any experience with the select- speed, but the 8 speed transmissions tractors were about as bullet proof as any made. We had two. Real work horses and easy to maintain. Just a good all purpose tractor. W. Jones
