Ford 3000 Hard Starting

I have a 73 ford 3000 and I installed a new injector pump and injectors and now it is a little hard to start. What could be causing this? Before the new pump it would start fine and now when cranking it trys to start but doesn't, can pull the throttle back about half way and will beginning to fire and eventually start.

I would check to make sure all fittings are tight and not allowing air into the system. After making sure you have no leaks at fittings, make sure you have no cracked lines that may also allow air into system. Rebleed system, but sounds like air is getting into system. Make sure fuel filter is clean, if you have a filter in the tank; make sure it is clean also.

Are you sure you got the pump timed right when you put it on?

I am assuming I have it right, I aligned the timing marks beside the pump with the line on the side of the pump at 0 degrees. Would advancing it or retarding any help this?

I would advance the pump timing about 2 degrees and see how it starts then. Is the pump brand new, newly rebuilt, or just new to you. There are Eastern European CAV knockoffs available on Ebay, is this one of them?

I won't say for sure, but it sounds like a timing issue assuming the injection system has been bled.
I have a 4000 diesel about the same vintage.

Neighbor had a 3000 and after changing out the fuel filter would not start. And after all the bleeding and looking for the air leak found when he had removed the filter the "O" ring had stayed in housing and added the 2nd. "O" with new filter this allowed air to be sucked into the system.
