The control valve was leaking around the spools and I assumed is was on O-Ring replacement, until I tore it apart. Well the spools were junk, pretty scored. My question is has anyone replaced the control valve with a more modern type control valve without to many modifications? If so, what was the brand, type, model etc.? The Tractor is a 1969 Ford 3000 with a series 735 Model 19-526 loader. The control valve is a Group 8-3 with float. Any information is greatly appreciated.

Start with a most basic question...... how many hoses on your loader valve. 6 or 7. Count carefully as your answer is critical.
Do you have power steering and if yes, does it have its own pump?

If the loader valve has 6 hoses, then likely it is independent of the rest of the hydraulics...
If the loader has 7 hoses, then likely it has a power beyond feature and the 7th hose is feeding the 3 pt hitch and any rear remotes.

Look over the 2 pages of this literature from Prince hydraulics which gives you some illustrations of the valve parts making up the addition of power beyond to a standard valve.

A modern joystick loader valve will work but first do not order a valve with a high flow rating. Your tractor system pump is a 5 gpm one. Too big a valve and you loose precision control of the loader.

I have found the tech purchasing advice from Cross Manufacturing to be excellent compared to buying a random valve off the shelf based only on price. They can explain the features they can provide on a simple loader valve.
