Now that I've got the major problems with this tractor taken care of I'm moving on to some of the small items. The first of which is the shut-off cable. Mine is toast. I'm sure I could buy a new one on the net but I know there are better mouse traps out there such as a solenoid. Has anyone made the switch that could shed some light on the modifications. Or would I be better off staying with the pull cable? This is a 1972 Ford 3000 diesel.

Hard to beat the simplicity of a cable. Original made it 35 years, good chance you'll get another 35 out of the next one with a shot of oil now and then. Is yours broke? Or just stuck? I've taken stuck cables and soaked them in a penetrating oil and loosened them up. (I use old brake fluid. Remove cable, roll it up and stick it in a coffee can, submerged in penetrating oil)

I agree with FWJ. If you don't want to pay for a cnh kill cable.. find a universal throttle or choke cable.. TSC sells them.

Or.. as FWJ said.. you can unstick a sticky one. I've coiled them in a can of diesel and got them moving pretty good.

Mine is pretty sticky, plus it bends at the pump. A new one is only 10 or 12 bucks so I will probably go that route.
