Ford 2120 brakes

Sorry to come on as a new member and my first post is asking for help.

Have a 97 2120 that the brakes have left town on.

How hard a job is it?
Are any of the after market disc's worth using?

I will probably drain all fluid and replace filters since I'm sure there are pad parts floating in there.

Any help would be appreciated.

I replaced the brakes on my Ford 2120 a couple of years ago and it is very easy. The 1720. 1920 and 2120 all use the same part nos. for the discs but they just use more discs as the tractors get bigger The main difficulty is that you have to drain all of the transmission oil. The New Holland friction discs are expensive however they are available in the aftermarket. The intermediate steel discs are only available from New Holland but aren’t too expensive. You will defiantly need to replace both friction and intermediate discs as on my tractor they were both damaged. I would suggest that you soak the new friction discs in transmission oil for a few hours before installation as I did not and my brakes groan somewhat when I apply them but I am not sure that this is the reason.
If you want to see a picture of the brake actuator assembly for your tractor, there is one on ebay. Put in the words “Ford/New Holland Tractor 1920 BRAKE ASSEMBLY RIGHT HAND “ and you can see it. The actuator on the 1920 and 2120 have the same design. I was worried the actuator would fly apart but it won’t
Use a New Holland Oil filter as I tried an aftermarket and it did not allow enough flow and the hydraulics were slow until I changed it to the NH filter. Also you will need to order a new cover gasket.
