Long time reader / first time poster...!

I am in the process of rebuilding my Ford 2000 top lid and I believed I had ordered correct parts.
So far everything has been a 1 for 1 likeness..Until today.

I removed the pressure relief valve from the bottom of the hydraulic case and compared to the new supplied valve. There appears to be quite a bit of difference.
I am guessing I've ordered the wrong part. Can anyone assist? I believe by the serial numbers its a 1968 Ford 2000 (3cyl diesel).

Thanks in advance.

Marty

My thought is the valve design has been updated, we are talking about a nearly 60 year old machine. As long as the valve fits and it looks to me like it will, I would screw it in and run with it.

Thanks John0829. I've googled as much as I can and everything comes back with the same type of valve, so I'd say you're correct. At least its easy to get access to if I need to swap out.

The parts manual indicates C7NN638E replaced C5NN638C, which I suspect was the original in mine.

I have hopefully one last question. Has anyone replaced the piston in the hydraulic cylinder with new o-ring and nylon ring?
I've watched a couple of videos on YouTube which are helpful, but it appears they could eventually push the piston in by hand.

I've got to tap mine in with a block of wood covering and gently tap with a hammer. It won't go down by hand and was very difficult to get out with the compressor.
Just don't want to put everything back in if this is an issue.

When I replaced the cylinder in my 850 I used the upgraded o-ring and backup ring but I cannot remember definitely how hard it was to push into the cylinder. Having said that it seems to me that after I got it started into the cylinder with a ring compressor it took some effort to push it down. I vaguely remember pushing it down with the handle of a hammer and kinda having to get behind it to do so, I think I do anyway but I do not recall just pushing it down with my fingers.

I would just make sure the cylinder is honed up good and smooth, lubed it up well and continue on with the installation.

Anyway I have had no issues with it mine and according to my records I replaced it back in 2009 when I rebuilt the pump and replaced the hydraulic lines internal to the transmission (not a fun job).
