Greetings gentlemen,

My pastor bought a used Ford 1700 or 1710 tractor (I'm not sure which model exactly) about three years ago. This past summer he started having issues with his 3 point hitch: it would raise very, very slowly and in a jerky or incremental fashion. I don't really have much more information than this I'm afraid, but would any you gentleman have some idea of what may be causing this behavior from his 3 point hitch/hydraulics? He basically uses the tractor to mow a couple of acres of grass with a finishing mower and to plow/till his garden. I have not seen the tractor operate in person, so I'm going only by what he has told me. Thanks for any info you gentlemen may be able to provide. :)

The screen for the hydrolic fluid is clogged. First you have to drain the hydrolic fluid from the rear axle. There is a bolt on the bottom. Be prepared to catch about 5 gallons of fluid. There is around a 1 inch pipe going from the engine area to the rear axle on the right side ( or passenger side) I believe the pipe is attached by banjo fittings. On the rear axle banjo fitting there is a cover with three or four bolts. take those out. That cover has the screen attached to it. Take it and clean it off using compressed air and I used an old tooth brush. Good luck. Do a search on this site it is a common problem.
