What engine is compatible with the Ford 1310?
It currently has a Shibaura S753 engine.
Can you use an engine from a 1510, 1710 Ford?
What about New Holland 1215?

What's the best source for engines to fit this tractor?

I had a 1310 for several years, I think that you might be close with a 1510 or 1710. I bought the 1310 for the wider and lower stance. The 1510 looked more like a row crop tractor to me. Should have kept it.
An older established New Holland dealer that used to sell Ford tractors could probably answer this for you. Might even have some dusty old part/secvice manuels. Ted from Everything Attachments might even be able to help. If he had a 1310 it was probably tuned to 50 hp though.
