Hi all, I have a ford 1210 somebody gave me, had been standing 10 years and the engine was in very bad state. To cut a very long story short, I have got it to a stage (without removing the head) where it might run. I tested the compression pressure and I got 10b (150psi) on all 3 cylinders. Does any one know what the pressure should be ???????? The hole tractor is in one heck of a state rebuild everything, if I cannot save the engine, I do not have a tractor. I cannot find ANY engine spare parts at all.

Hoping

A Diesel engine needs 300 psi to ignite the fuel.
What r u using for a compression tester adapter.?
U cannot use a gasoline compression tester in a Diesel engine..

That’s a good compression reading if it’s a gas motor.

I thank you both for your information, In answer to thepumpguysc, I was using a diesel pressure testing kit, and to lens12, I have sent you a mail and looked on your web site but I cannot see any spares for Shibaura S723 diesel engine, unless of course I am looking in the wrong place.

Hi again,
Does anyone else know of where some engine spares (Shibaura S723) could be obtained. Like piston rings Std, head gasket and con rod bearings Std.

Be gentle with it. As you’ve seen, parts are hard to come by. The front 4X4 axle stub shafts are prone to breaking from fatigue cracks. Last year I had one break and I paid $280 to have a used shaft shipped from Alabama to Arizona. I think it was the last one on the internet.

You may have a goldmine in parts there yourself.

I sold my little Ford/Shibaura after I fixed it and got a new tractor. I really liked it, but it was only one broken part away from being a lawn ornament.

Hello MarkMac, Thanks for the warning. I knew parts are difficult to find, but I did not think they were impossible to get. Not only are they impossible to get but flipping expensive when you do find them. I did some work for someone and they said they had a small tractor, would I take it as payment. It was miles away, been standing for 10 years, but it was in good condition, so I agreed. Well I got there, what a load of junk, I just loaded it and set off home. Total rebuild required, but as you say spares very difficult. The biggest trouble I have, things are expensive in the US, but I live in Malaysia, currency is Malaysian Ringget MR5 = 1$, I found some piston rings in the US, $100 each piston, freight $110, import duty at 40% add that all up = $574, convert to MR = 2870, not bad you say, well Government minimum wage here is MR 1500 PER MONTH, so almost 2 months wages for one set of piston rings. Like you said garden ornament.
Maybe can sell it for spares.
