I am in the middle of replacing the engine on a Ford 1210. From the research I did, it looked like a Perkins 103-10 should bolt right in. Everything was going pretty good till I tried mounting the hydraulic pump. The new engine has something in the way. Is there a different hydraulic pump that would fit or an easy way to modify the existing one?

I am often confused by hydraulics! Since you haven't gotten much attention to this post, I thought I might throw an ideal out there that I had many years ago to add hydraulics to a non hydraulic tractor. I searched and found a Steiner (yes, lawnmower!) reel type mowing deck that had an onboard hydraulic pump to run the lift cylinder and the hydraulic motors that turned the reels. That hydraulic pump was powered by the front pto off the Steiner lawntractor but the pump was mounted on the mower deck.
So... find a similar belt driven pump, build a bracket and power it off the front pulley's of the engine. Just another thought, would be an automotive power steering pump, but I don't know that it would have the capacity to run the hydraulics of a tractor. Cheap to check, just a trip to your local salvage yard to grab a pump and try it.
Good luck, David from jax

A pto pump will supply hydraulic fluid to the system, but ties up the pto.

I would prefer to keep the original pump location. From what I can tell, the old engine had the fuel adjustment and speed limiter screws in this location with wires through the heads to keep them from being messed with. I am guessing that the thing on the new engine must be something to do with the fuel adjustment. I am hoping it is just a dry screw inside and I could just cut the end off the thing with the brass plug in it but wouldn't want to consider doing that without knowing what it really is.

That part seems to be related to the fuel screw and max RPM screw, accordingly to the manual.
