Ford 1100
Recently I purchased a ford 1100 and bush hog for 400 bucks. I got it home changed the fluids and filters and have been usin it ever since. I noticed I have a leak around the axle on the right rear tire. I purchased the seal but now I'm having trouble getting the axle out. I wasn't sure if there was a trick im missing or what? Thanks

you did remove the housing and then remove the axle nut?

Thanks I've gotten to that point but I can't seem to get the axle to come out of the housing after I've removed all that. I wasn't sure if there was a trick to it or not. Also the gaskets were bad on the housing is this something you can use gasket maker on or do I have to order them through new holland.

If you get it good and clean and dry, I'd think gasket sealer would be OK, you might check with CNH and see just how much the gasket is, might not be able to get it any more! As far as getting the axle loose, I'm sure it will take more than a slight tap to get it to come out of the housing, looks like you might need to also take #4 loose as it kinda looks like the bearings are going to come out with it.

Ok thanks what's the best way to try to tap it out without damaging the threads on the axle?

If it were mine, I'd screw the nut back on until flush then use a piece of wood between the hammer and the axle/nut.
