Fly control for cattle

Check out Just a Few Acres Farm on You Tube. He has a rub the cows pass under. Good results from it.
You beat me to it. I've seen that rub but couldn't figure out what it was made of. It's treated with something but didn't catch that either. It seems to work, and the cattle don't seem to mind. They just stroll under it when he moves them from pasture to pasture.

Found this last night. This is a couple counties over from me. He used CoRal which is what one of my wife's Ol cowboy co-workers told her he used years ago.

I mixed some permethrin with water in a quart spray bottle yesterday. On one lease we have 13 head. Sprayed em best I could while they were eating cubes out in middle of pasture. After a minute or two all but a couple decided they'd had enough and they high tailed it outta there. Went back today and was pleasantly surprised there were very few flies. They had been so bad our Charolais bull looked grayish black instead of white. Almost no flies today.

On our other lease is 42 head. Probably gonna have to get them to follow me in lot.

Bought a battery powered backpack sprayer from Petratools. Mixed a couple gallons of Co-Ral and sprayed nine calves I had trapped in a lot. First time to use it and I was very pleased.
