Fluid choices for CH20HST?

I'm going through a lot of hydraulic/transmission fluid due to a leaking valve. Until that gets sorted, I may need another 10 gallons or so - most of which will end up on the ground, alas.

Dealer uses Exxon Hydraul 560, which is hard to find around here (Eastern MA). Any recommendations for products available at Napa, Autozone or the like? Anything in particular to avoid?

What valve is leaking? I would not want to operate the machine if it is leaking that much...

It's one of the backhoe controls. Not visibly flowing, but loses a quart or so each time I run it - steady drip, then more on the garage floor when I park, even after letting down both buckets to relieve system pressure.

is it a Kioti backhoe? If so, mine was doing the same thing. What I found was the o-rings under the 90 degree elbows were leaking because the existing o-rongs were mashed down. So much so that it looked like they were the wrong ones. I used Gates o-rings part # G60248-0008 on all 12 fittings. Solved the problem for good. The o-ring at the bottom of the pic is a good example of how they looked

I purchased valvoline Universal Tractor Fluid UTF at Napa here in Washington in 5 gallon buckets. Seems to work just fine. It is made for hydraulic/transmission fluid shared applications.

10 gallons is a lot to waste. Too bad, but if you must run it then you should have the oil on hand to top up as needed.

yeah............I was slightly off topic.............adressing the leak. Universal Tractor Fluid of any brand I'm told. If one brand over another someone else will need to explain but the fluid is nothing exotic

Nothing off-topic about trying to help! The leak is around the left-right boom swing valve pin (if that's the correct word) on the KB2365 left-hand control. I tightened the three allen bolts down as far as I dared - not very far - which didn't seem to help at all. I hate to pay the dealer almost $100 to pick up and drop off the machine, and possibly pay for a repair as well. It's under warranty, but he says that tightening isn't covered. (If I break off the bolts, is that covered?) I'm really curious as to why this would have started right after I had them do the initial 50-hour service, and also why the hoe boom now screeches pretty loudly when I pull in from long extensions. They said that it might be due to different greasing, but I wonder...

Anyway, I wound up with Napa fluid at $30/5 gal. I hope not to run through all that too fast!

yup.................I had about 10 hours on mine when it started leaking. How many hours on yours? How is a hyd not covered under warranty? That's a new one on me /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Chelydra,
The problem you are have with your Kioti backhoe is a very well known problem and Kioti is well aware of that problem.
You can tighten those allen bolts as much as you want and will not do a thing.
The o-ring has already been blown out.
It will have to go back to the dealer, It is ALL covered under warranty.

Mine did something like that, only on this one it was a bad weld at the outter end of one of the swing cylinders. Kioti replaced the cylinder and all is well again. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
