I bought this tractor at an auction and it had 5 to 6 inches of travel in the joystick, for the up/down functions. I found that the connecting rod had lost a nut and replaced it and joystick became tight. All the functions work fine except for the float. The joystick will not stay in position for float. I replaced the pressure relief valve, had a torn o-ring on the inside end of valve, and replaced the poppet, spring and end cap on top the the spool. Still no float. I have a Sauer spool valve but can't find any infor for repair, and JD doesn;t show any repair parts for it. What is the problem? the buckets does seem to fall rather quickly when trying for the float postion. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks houndchaser

Float assembly on a lot of valves have little balls with springs that push the balls into a groove.

Sometimes water gets in the bottom can and causes sludge, rust, etc and inhibits the float assembly from working.

I recommend removing the can on the bottom, inspect, disassemble, clean or replace any bad parts, and then lube and re-install.

Are you saying you are pushing really hard and it acts like it is in float for a moment.

Thank you yes i push very hard,no float. With tractor off,I can feel it wanting to go in and stay but it doesn't. Removing the can?? I don't know that piece of machinery sorry.

i just took apart the back of the valev and removed the cylinder. Nothing fell out nor did any balls drop. Could I be missing them? The only place that I see to have a ball in is under that poppet and spring that I replaced earlier. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

What is the brand name of your loader valve, and model number.

Show picture of the parts inside the can.

Sometimes there are two cans, did you check the correct one with float?

Thank you Yes I checked the one with the float. Should I check the one that curls in case the factory screwed up? Vale is a Sauer model 031A serial AM124916. Going to study the attachment you sent and see if I figure out mine. Thanks adain
