Float position on 4104 loader

Maybe I'm losing it but I can't seem to get my loader (2017 LS4140H) to go into float? That, plus the "leveling" rod on the bucket (or at least that is what it was on my previous tractor) seems to sit 3 inches above the tube when level? Is there a float function on the 4104 loader?

I have the 4104 loader on mine. If you push the stick all the way forward, it will lock into float. The detent on mine was a little "sticky" when I first did it, but it is fine after using it for a while. The top of the leveling rod sits flush with the top of the tube on mine when the bucket is flat on the ground.

That's what I thought should happen - what you describe is how my old loader (on a 4041) worked.

Isn't the tube that the leveling rod sits in adjustable??

Mine is ---- set the tube such that the top of the leveling rod is even with the top of the tube when the bucket is level.

Like your 3039 my 4041 had an adjusting bolt on the side of the tube ... but the one on the 4140 does not?

My leveling rod indicator sticks out a few inches too. I found level, took the rod out, ground a groove in it, painted it black (only color I had in a paint pen) and put it back in. Works well. I can see the groove and takes the guess work out. I do not recall a way to adjust the rod or the tube, but really didnt look at the tube that closely. Now that I am used to it, if I do adjust the tube, it will probably screw me up.

I was afraid someone would say exactly what you said ... just makes me think what is a "leveling rod" there for if it isn't doing that? I will probably do what you did but it does make me think not everyone in the world is on the "level" :laughing:
