Float or Not When Using a Discbine

When operating a discbine after lowering it do you put the SCV spool in float or not?

My neighbor has been having problems with at the SCV on his 6420 when using his 535 discbine. I was wondering if he puts the spool in float after lowering it, if that would take pressure off the SCV. He does go at a good clip and some of the land is a bit ruff.

I don't but I cut relatively high. I'm looking for stand longevity & hay quality sacrificing quantity. Horse people are crazy...
