Fixed grapple

Has anyone built a "non-hydraulic", fixed grapple that attaches to your front end loader arms? I have been watching a contractor tear down our old high school using a large backhoe with a fixed thumb. It seems to work very well for him and I think it should work fairly well on a FEL. Thanks

Ask Eddie Walker, he showed something about a frontloader grapple, where the top clamp together with the bucket would make a sort of clamshell bucket as found on deep trenching excavators.
