I'm working on my Wheel Horse D250 hydraulics. Between this and my Bobcat it seems as many of the hydraulic fittings are of different types and styles. I have NPT, JIC, SAE and metric on them.
Does any one know of a good source that explains the differences and how to tell fittings apart. I guess I'm looking for a reference manual if there is such a thing.
Thanks for any info you can provide.

Just hit a supplier that sells those parts and look at the fittings.

ORB fittings are straight thread and rely on a face and undercut for an oring to seal. Use no thread goop..

Pipe thread ( couple types.. BP and NPT.. etc.. ) are a taper thread and rely upon thread deformation to seal. Thread goop can be used. ( female pipe fittings that have a fre-spinning collar won't use goop, as they use a mating surface similar to JIC to mate to the male fitting )

JIC fittings rely upon mating surfaces on the male and femal fittings that mate together tightly to make the seal.. no goop on the threads.. etc.
