First use of ratchet rake

Yep...got mine a few weeks ago. Last winter brought down a couple trees (big ones) and a lot of branches. The ratchet rake was a huge help cleaning things up...well worth the investment.

I have a problem with snow melting off my garage roof and refreezing on the ground in front of the garage. The RR is great for breaking it up.

I really like the idea of the rake on a grapple bucket, do everything with one attachment. Only issue is the loader on my tractor, only rated for just over 1600lbs lift.

I'm not sure of the weight but this is a light weight grapple bucket. It probably don't weigh much more than whatever bucket you have your rake on. The grapple is a 66" bucket with one grapple cylinder. Even a huge pile of brush isn't that heavy, it'll pick up a pile you can't see over. 1600 lb lift on your tractor is plenty for the set up i'm using. My skidsteer will lift more but it's only rated for 2000 lbs.

Large logs and rocks is a different story but for general brush grubbing it's fine. The grapple is a handy tool and one like mine is about $750 - 900. It's a Tomahawk. Cheap built but I've had good luck with it. For what I do couldn't see spending $2000 + for an extreme duty grapple especially since my machine is only rated for 2000 lbs.

I have a RR.. somewhere on this site I posted about how quickly it wore out, and posted pics of it. IMO it's good for occasional use but not made with durable enough steel for anything more than that.
