I road a good amount as well... for the most part I never have an issue, but not high traffic roads, although the speed limit is 45mph. I usually have my 8ft pull rotary cutter behind me and can average about 15mph, and only drop down to 10 on the steepest hill (using the HST+ lever going from H to L in High range). People will wait for me to give them a cue to pass though, I just make sure to have all the lights on that I can during daylight.

The WM25 should be the NH badged version of the LS XJ2025 or similar which is a hydro.

The Workmaster 25 is the LS XG3025. It can be HST or 12x12 manual, 3 range.

I've driven mine on the road about 2 miles to get a $75 5' tiller from an estate sale down the road which is a highway without shoulders for 1/2 mile... my tractor does 12 maximum and has zero functioning lights... was freaky but worked out.

Why not put the 5 gallon cans in the station wagon? They should seal up fairly tight, I haul my 5 gallon cans in my Explorer, or the wife's Explorer... just keep them upright and the smell goes away once the cans are out of the car.

You didn’t even get to the best part of road travel. Unsafe passes, terrible steering on the tractor terrible ride of the tractor, not very good brakes on the tractor, painfully slow, and all around dangerous. I’ll occasionally drive a short distance on the road but I try to avoid it. I’d never consider it just to get fuel.

Note that waving them past can cause you to have partial liability for any accident that happens while they are passing you.

I had a need to have a tractor to drive down the road. I tow a 6x10 dump trailer that is too big/heavy loaded with wood for my Tacoma. In this area we only need a SMV for road travel. I avoid all the commercial BS on a truck and trailer. The Kubota M7060 does 39kph (24mph) but you do have to drop a few gears on hills with a load! (A cord of green wood with the trailer is likely 4500-6500# total)
Totally different machine than what some of you are talking about likely.
In this area there is no farming, the only other SMV痴 on the road are Case 580痴 and the odd loader or Grader. So it痴 a very defensive drive around. I go upwards of 6-8 miles into town for deliveries, plenty of time to see many whackos on the road! They are everywhere!

Once you get more used to your tractor it is no big deal. I drove my previous tractor home around 110 miles across state lines most of the trip on a divided four lane highway. It was no big deal really. Most of my trip was through farm country and I saw lots of tractors moving about. No one knew if I was on my long journey or just going to the next field.

Heck I have driven my rubber tracked crawler which only goes 5 mph 5–10 miles on public roads all the time. I even drove it a short stretch on the fort bend tollway in Houston.

Have roaded my L3650 4 to 5 miles many times. Even drove a MF Super 90 25 miles home after purchase.
Yes there are people out there that go crazy when driving past tractors. Lights SMV sign and a good mirror help.

I have no idea how fast my M6040 will go down the paved county road. It's posted at 45 - and I think I'm the only one who goes that speed in my Power Wagon. Otherwise - folks drive like a bat outta H**L.

My ONLY involvement with the county road - I cross it to plow out my mail box. I look like a carnival side show when plowing out the mail box. All my lights are on and everything is flashing.

BTW - the local Chevron station has RED off-road diesel around here.

My roading is about 1-1/2 miles to the church to do parking lots. The Ford is kept there all winter for smaller plowing with a rear scrape, an the Kubota is driven back and forth for plowable snows. SMV, 4-ways and yellow LED blinkers do the trick.

Fuel runs are with the Tahoe using one of those hitch insert carriers to keep the fuel out of the passenger compartment.
